The Role

• As a Duty Solicitor, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality legal representation to clients, with responsibilities including:
• Representing clients detained at police stations, ensuring their legal rights are fully protected.
• Managing your own caseload of criminal defence matters, covering a wide range of offences.
• Conducting advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court, including summary trials.
• Undertaking Crown Court advocacy, if Higher Rights are held.

The Person

• A minimum of 1 year’s PQE in criminal law.
• Crime Duty Accreditation (preferred), or a willingness to obtain it if not yet accredited.
• Strong advocacy and communication skills.
• The ability to handle a high-volume caseload with minimal supervision.
• A pragmatic and professional approach with a strong sense of client care.
• Proficiency in legal IT systems and working in a paperless environment.
• A commitment to publicly funded legal work and access to justice.
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
